What's on in Perthshire? 'What's not on' might be a better question, in an area of great vibrancy, special interest, culture and diversity.
Major traditional events held annually near the hotel include the Highland Games and Gatherings at Pitlochry, with the famous Braemar Highland Gathering an easy drive away. For a more comprehensive list of what's on in the area, look at Scenic Scotland.
The internationally renowned Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair is held annually in August, in the beautiful parkland surrounding Blair Castle, only 10 miles form the hotel. The event is owned and managed by Atholl Estates, who also manage the castle and surrounding land.
The first Three Day Event at Blair was held in 1989, and since then the event has gone from strength to strength, hosting the Junior European Championships in 1996, and attracting in excess of 33,000 spectators in 2003.
Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky are now in their ninth year as title sponsor of the event, and the Horse Trials are very grateful for their continued support. 2004 was the fourth year in which the Children's Hospice Association of Scotland (CHAS) has been involved as the Official Charity. This year the Fair City of Perth was privileged to host the prestigious National Mod. Other notable events in and near Perth include the wonderful Perth Races, the famous Bull Sales (the leading bull sales in the UK ), and numerous flower, garden and food festivals. Many small highland Perthshire towns and villages hold superb local cultural events and craft fairs.
Not to mention the wonderful Pitlochry and Perth Theatres , both now with programmes running throughout the year.
