At The End of The Rob Roy Way

Walking around Pitlochry

Put on your boots and take a hike through the magnificent Highland Perthshire scenery.  There is a network of paths around Pitlochry, totalling approximately 40 miles and these are suitable for varyious levels of age and ability.

Take a stroll round Loch Dunmore in Faskally Wood, where the Enchanted Forest takes place each year in October.  There is an abundance of wildlife in the area incuding deer (red and roe), grouse, red squirrels and pine martens.

There's a great network of walks around the area, most of which you can do without setting foot in your car!  Totalling approximately 40 miles, you will experience all kinds of terrain from woodland to moors, rivers and lochs.  Get your boots on and fill your lungs with fresh Perthshire air!

Ben y Vrackie

At 2757 feet high Ben y Vrackie is a Corbett, rather than a Munro, but definitely worth a walk.  The ascent follows good paths, with a few steep bits, through woodland, open moorland and past picturesque Loch a' Choire .  The view from the top (on a clear day!) is breathtaking.  Look at the cairn to find Beinn a Ghlo, the Cairngorms, Schiehallion and Ben Lawers, to name just a few landmarks.

Faskally Wood

A 5 minute drive north of the town, this pretty little wood is home to deer, red squirrels, otters, water fowl and an abundance of wild-flowers.  Take a walk round Loch Dunmore (wheel-chair friendly access and path) or head further into the woods and down to the shore of Loch Faskally.

Pitlochry Dam and Fish Ladder

Built in the early 1950s, as part of the rapidly expanding hydro-electric network, this impressive construction has become a very popular visitor attraction.  Walk along the top for the views up and down stream.  Watch the salmon heading upstream through the 'staircase' of pools and the viewing window.
